The Vincent Ehindero Blogger Award Tag
Good morning! The first proper blog in ages. I am aware it looks like I blog only once a year, but most I write as a first draft and then don’t touch again. I’m not very good at properly finishing things, it’s one of the things I’m trying to get better at this year.

My Vincent Ehindero Blogger Award Answers
What is one thing you wish you had known about blogging before you started?
That it’s okay to restart.
Look, I’m an old blogger, I started blogging on LiveJournal back in like 2000. I have had about 10 of them and wish I saved them all instead of deleted entire websites due to inactiveness. I am the least consistent blogger ever, even though I’d love to do it when I sit down and take the time to actually blog properly. I wish I’d known it’s okay to make mistakes, but just continue with your old blog and give it a proper restart instead of delete!
If you could travel in time to any era, which would you pick and why?
To a time when the pagans and druids still properly roamed the earth. I am absolutely fascinated with paganism, herb lore and witchcraft and would love to see what it was like back then.
You can have any animal in the world as a pet (fully financed for you for the rest of your life) – which would you have?
Couple of horses, probably. I love horseback riding!
Do you collect things? Like notebooks, magnets, spoons, egg cups etc? When did you start?
I’m a book hoarder. My mother started for me when I was a baby and I’ve never stopped. I read everything but I keep buying books anyway and now my TBR has massive proportions… oops.
Who would you say you most aspire to be like?
Someone once said “be the person who you needed when you were younger” and I try to do right by that. I have A History, but there are a few people that always had my back, even if they were only in my life a little while. They made a lasting impression. I hope to be as kind and generous (not necessarily financially, but definitely with time and energy) as they were to me.
Where in the world would you travel to right now if you could get on board a plane or boat without having to isolate or worry about your health?
It’s my mum’s 70th birthday tomorrow and I’m about 955km away from her due to Covid19. So home, probably. If it was for myself and purely selfish reasons, Maldives. I’d love to go there and dive and swim in the ocean.
Thirty years from now, what would you most like to be remembered for?
Kindness, activism, doing good for the world and trying to make it a better place.
You can only watch one film for the rest of your life – which film are you picking and why?
The Princess Bride. It’s one of the best movies, if not the best movie ever made. I love it so much. It has everything you need a movie to be.
What book from your childhood will you always remember?
From when I was young: “Dinosaurusverhalen voor het slapen gaan” or “Dinosaur stories before going to sleep” (I checked, ISBN 9789061137245). When I was in my teens, “Sevenwaters Trilogy” by Juliet Marillier. Grateful to have copies of both, especially now that I have kids of my own!
Where were you when you first decided to start your blog?
As I said, I’ve been blogging for close to 2 decades. Was 13 at the time, so probably home in Rotterdam!
